My go-to sipper when colds and flus get me down was inspired by a recipe a friend shared many years ago. I made only one alteration and that was to omit the cayenne pepper, however, add a pinch if you’d like for extra oomph. Not only is this elixir powerfully healing, it’s so tasty you just might end up enjoying it for a regular night cap. Make a batch when you are combating a virus, have a sore throat, or when your tummy is out of sorts. The ginger is an excellent stomach soother, lime is full of Vitamin C for boosting immunity, and honey will soothe your sore throat. Ah……
Ingredients:
4 cups filtered water
3 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup raw honey
Preparation:
In a medium saucepan combine water, ginger, and lime juice and bring to a low simmer. Do not let it boil. Simmer of low flame for at least 1 hour and ideally 3. Stir in honey and enjoy warm.
