Cold Busting Haute Tottie

My go-to sipper when colds and flus get me down was inspired by a recipe a friend shared many years ago.  I made only one alteration and that was to omit the cayenne pepper, however, add a pinch if you’d like for extra oomph.  Not only is this elixir powerfully healing, it’s so tasty you just might end up enjoying it for a regular night cap.  Make a batch when you are combating a virus, have a sore throat, or when your tummy is out of sorts.  The ginger is an excellent stomach soother, lime is full of Vitamin C for boosting immunity, and honey will soothe your sore throat.  Ah……

Ingredients:

4 cups filtered water

3 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated

1/2 cup fresh lime juice

1/4 cup raw honey

Preparation:

In a medium saucepan combine water, ginger, and lime juice and bring to a low simmer.  Do not let it boil.  Simmer of low flame for at least 1 hour and ideally 3.  Stir in honey and enjoy warm.
